After your kids come home from SwitchKids, you can help them keep exploring and putting into practice the awesome things they’ve been learning—right at home! And we want to make that super easy for you.

Here are a few simple ideas to try together, with one new idea each week.

Walk with the Wise

Proverbs 13:20

Bottom Line: Good friends are important.

The friends we choose shape who we become. Walking with wise friends leads us toward wisdom, and Jesus is the wisest friend of all.

Try this at home:

  • Ask: "Who is someone you know who makes good choices?" and "What do you notice about how they treat people?"
  • Talk about one person in your family's life who's a great example of a good friend, and why.
  • Ask: "What's one thing you could learn from them?"

Do to Others

Luke 6:31

Bottom Line: Be kind to everyone.

Jesus calls us to be kind to everyone, not just our friends, not just the easy ones. Real kindness means actually doing something about it.

Try this together:

  • Ask everyone in the family: "Who could you be kind to this week, even if it's not easy?"
  • Pick one small act of kindness to do together this week, like sharing something, including someone, or helping without being asked.
  • Ask: "How did it feel to be kind to someone who isn't your usual friend?"

Four Friends

Luke 5:17-26

Bottom Line: Good friends put others first.

Four friends carried their mate, who couldn't walk, to see Jesus, climbing onto a roof and lowering him down. They put their friend first, even when it cost them.

Try this at home:

  • Ask: "What's something hard you'd be willing to do to help a friend?"
  • Think of a friend or family member who could use some help this week, and do it together as a family.
  • Ask: "Has a friend ever gone out of their way to help you? What happened?"

Forgive as the Lord Forgave

Colossians 3:13

Bottom Line:Good friends forgive.

God forgives us first, and that's why we can forgive others. Forgiveness is real, but it isn't the same as forgetting, and it doesn't mean staying in a situation that isn't safe.

Try this together:

  • Talk as a family about a time someone forgave you, or a time you forgave someone.
  • Ask: "Is there someone you need to forgive, or someone you could ask to forgive you?"
