We believe talking helps.

Over the last few years we have been on a journey to understand how we might best help our community through the mental health crisis that is being felt right throughout Aotearoa. We have been heartbroken at the detrimental effects of poor mental and emotional health for many kiwis and are convinced that we must be part of the solution. As we have leaned into this area we’ve developed resources to equip whānau in developing emotional well-being in the form of our Feed Your Mind Packs. We’ve also been working to position ourselves to have an NZAC accredited Counsellor on site, accessible to our community.

We see counselling as a practical tool that can help people from all walks of life to gain the necessary tools that will help lead to wellness. We’re also committed to removing as many barriers as possible to make counselling accessible to everyone!

What we offer...

Currently we can offer counselling sessions with our Mind Health Counselling student, Ana, who is studying towards a Masters in Counselling Studies through Massey University.
Ana is in the process of developing her counselling skills and therefore has a limited scope of practice she can work within. Due to this you’ll need to complete a Counselling Request form (see below). Please note the completion of this form does not guarantee a counselling appointment, once completed we will be in contact with you to discuss appointment availability.

Who is counselling for?

Whilst we believe that every person can benefit from counselling, in our current capacity as Ana develops in her training, there are some restrictions to who she will see.

Ana is not currently seeing those under the age of 14 years old.

Do I have to be a Christian?

No, not at all. You may have guessed by now that LifeSwitch is a church, built on the core tenants of Christianity. Whilst this may resonate with your own beliefs and worldview you don’t have to associate with Christianity to be eligible for our counselling services.

How much does it cost?

Originally we offered two pricing options of $50.00 per session or a bundle deal of 6x sessions for $180.00. However in an effort to make our counselling service accessible to everyone in our community we’ve now moved to a koha model. This means you are welcome to make a donation of a sum that you can afford if you’d like too. However, there is no obligation to do so in order to access counselling with Ana.

If you’d like to make a donation our details are below:
Account number : 06- 0545-0014111-00
Account name: LifeSwitch Community Trust Inc
Please use your name and ‘koha’ as the reference.
