The Core Four

WE’RE ALL ON A JOURNEY

Whether you’re looking into Christianity for the first time, feel you have a strong relationship with God – or are anywhere in between – we would love to help you find the next step in your journey.

There are four areas that really make a difference in growing toward faith or growing in faith.  We call these the CORE FOUR.

The CORE FOUR

  1. Pursuing God Personally
  2. Connecting With Others
  3. Playing Your Part
  4. Impacting Your World

PURSUING GOD PERSONALLY

Christianity is about a personal relationship with God, not a commitment to religious rituals.

Just like any other relationship, we need to invest time and effort into getting to know who God is and what He wants for us

If you’re exploring Christianity or returning to it after some time away:

Then Pursuing God Personally may simply mean:

  • getting a good Bible
  • making a start to read the Bible
  • trying some basic reading plans
  • beginning to pray
  • listening to stories about other people exploring faith
  • learning the basics of Christianity
  • asking lots of questions
  • reading helpful books/blogs or listening to recommended podcasts
If you’re already a Christian but wanting to start growing more in Christ:

Then Pursuing God Personally could include:

  • developing daily Bible reading habits
  • establishing prayer as an integral part of your day
  • addressing unhelpful personal habits in your life
  • identifying your Spiritual Pathways
  • getting baptised
  • reading helpful books/blogs or listen to recommended podcasts
If you’re leading a Christ-Centred life then Pursuing God Personally:

Probably comes naturally to you already but enhancing this could include things like:

  • deeper Bible Study (beyond just devotions)
  • creating a good mix of structured and unstructured prayer
  • exploring new Spiritual Disciplines like scripture memorisation or fasting
  • addressing unhelpful personal habits or sins in your life beyond the outwardly noticeable ones and looking more at the inward sins of attitudes and motives of heart.
  • identifying your Spiritual Pathways
  • reading helpful books/blogs or listen to recommended podcasts

If you’d like to discuss Pursuing God Personally please visit the HUB in the foyer on Sunday mornings or email laurel@lifeswitch.org.nz and someone will be contact with you.

CONNECTING WITH OTHERS

You cannot grow spiritually unless you connect relationally.

Life is better together. When we interact with others we find support and encouragement to continue in our faith or to explore it for the first time. LIFEgroups are at the heart of LifeSwitch and provide the best way for anyone – at any stage – to Connect With Others.

If you’re new to church or returning to it after some time away:

A good ways to start Connecting With Others are:

  • trying out some LIFEgroups to find one that suits you
  • initiating conversations with people at church
  • coming along to church regularly
  • learning about the importance of who you spend time with
  • being authentic
If you’re already a Christian but wanting to start growing more in Christ:

Then you can Connect With Others by:

  • being a regular participant and contributor in a LIFEgroup
  • finding strong Christian friends who have the same goals and direction as you
  • building an inclusive, authentic and generous lifestyle
  • getting a mentor
  • having an accountability partner/someone with permission to speak into your life
  • spending time to strengthen your marriage and family relationships
  • doing your best to build bridges rather than walls with people
  • looking to include others in what you’re doing
If you are further on in your Christian journey you may consider:

  • running a LIFEgroup or being an apprentice leader
  • being a mentor
  • being intentional about looking out for new or isolated people at church
  • invite/bring new people into groups
  • proactively connecting with other people, expressing a real and genuine interest in them
  • looking to include others in what you’re doing
  • spending time to strengthen your marriage and family relationships
  • being able to point to intentional relationships you value and are working at

PLAYING YOUR PART

We can accomplish infinitely more together than we can apart.

God gave us all passions and gifts that He wants us to use.  When we get involved in church and give our time, talents, or gifts we can help point others toward Him too.

If you’d like to discuss Playing Your Part please visit the HUB in the foyer on Sunday mornings or email laurel@lifeswitch.org.nz and someone will be contact with you.

If you’re new to church or returning to it after some time away:

Some good ways to Play Your Part are:

  • Coming regularly on Sundays
  • Trying out some serving teams to find one that might suit you
  • Bringing a friend along
  • Identify your skills/gifts/talents and discuss how they could best be utilised
If you’re already a Christian but wanting to start growing more in Christ:

Then you can Do Your Part by:

  • Commit to attending regularly
  • Become familiar with LifeSwitch’s strategy/Mission/Vision
  • Committing to a Serving Team
  • Start investing financially by committing to a percentage of your income
  • Becoming an apprentice team leader
  • Finding out your spiritual gifts
  • Consider becoming a LifeSwitch intern
If you are further on in your Christian journey you may consider:
  • Understanding and committing to LifeSwitch’s strategy/Mission/Vision
  • Leading a team
  • Committing to giving an increased percentage of your income
  • Being more people focussed than task focussed
  • Using your gifts
  • Contributing effectively but leaving personal time in your life
  • Investing sacrificially not just comfortably
  • Asking yourself how you can contribute more effectively this year than last year

IMPACTING YOUR WORLD

100 years from now the only thing that will matter is someone’s relationship with Jesus.

When you experience something as good as God’s love, you want to share it with the people in your life, talk about how God has changed your life, build relationships, and invite someone to come to church with you.

If you’d like to discuss Impacting Your World please visit the HUB in the foyer on Sunday mornings or email laurel@lifeswitch.org.nz and someone will be contact with you.

If you’re new to church or returning to it after some time away:

Some good ways to Impact Your World are:

  • Learning about how God has created you for a purpose
  • Inviting friends/family to church or to learn about God with you
  • Talking to people about how you’ve been going to LifeSwitch
If you’re already a Christian but wanting to start growing more in Christ:

Then you can Do Your Part by:

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with people who aren’t yet Christians
  • Inviting your friends/family/associates to church
  • Perform intentional acts of kindness
  • Commit to being the kindest person wherever you are
  • Learning to have an eternal perspective on life – not just an earthly one
  • Writing your story and learning how to tell it
  • Identify your specific spheres of influence
If you are further on in your Christian journey you can Impact Your World by:
  • Sharing your faith regularly
  • Always looking for opportunities to tell your story
  • Knowing your story well and be comfortable telling it
  • Know your specific spheres of influence and have plans to actively leverage that influence
  • Always looking for opportunities to invite people
  • Supporting others working in the community in growing the Kingdom outside the church
